What we do
If you are seeking a personal, friendly and thoughtful wedding experience then Trafford Hall is the perfect venue for you.
By choosing Trafford Hall to host your civil ceremony and reception you can be sure that while you enjoy your special day in beautiful surroundings we are doing our utmost to protect and respect the environment in which we all live and work.
Our fantastic, organically managed gardens provide the perfect setting to capture your wedding day. We endeavour to use as much of our own-grown organic produce for meals, and use local businesses as much as possible.
With 7 function rooms and 53 en-suite bedrooms, there is plenty of space to invite all your friends and family to enjoy your special day. 42 of our bedrooms, built around our peaceful Victorian sunken garden, were built using Segal method timber frames.

Ethical action
Trafford Hall is an environmentally friendly wedding venue and has championed environmental policies long before care for the environment become a prominent political issue.
The Stable is a standalone carbon neutral building which provides two large function rooms; both are licensed for a ceremony. There is also a light and spacious conservatory and a late licensed bar.
The Stable closely adheres to Trafford Hall's environmentally friendly policies by using:
- a combination of solar power and bio-fuels to provide all the heating for the building, including hot water.
- low odour, environmentally friendly paints and water based stains.
- a recycled newspaper product to insulate all walls, roofs, floors, far beyond British Building Regulation requirements
- low water systems for showers, hand basins and toilets
Our commitment to the environment will reach new heights in the future with our pledge to become a fully Carbon Neutral conference and events centre by 2012.
A few ways we're trying to make a difference
Recycling
We use low water systems for showers, hand basins and toilets. The garden is nourished by compost, produced from kitchen and garden waste, using large compost bins, leaf mould bins and wormery. Recycling bins are available for paper, compostable food waste, fabric, glass, ink and toner cartridges / electric equipment / hazardous waste / metals and plastics.
Renewable energy use
The Stable building closely adheres to Trafford Hall’s environmentally friendly policies by:
- Using a combination of solar power and bio-fuels to provide all the heating for the building, including hot water
- Solar PV (electric) panels have recently been installed which complement the Solar Thermal panels which are already there. The 3 rows of 13 panels can generate up-to 9.5kW when it’s sunny
- Using under floor heating throughout·
- Using electrical power from 100% renewable sources and use of energy efficient lighting throughout·
- Using timber from managed and sustainable sources, pine for the structural frame and larch for the cladding·
- Insulating all walls, roofs, floors, with a recycled newspaper product, to a level far beyond British Building Regulation requirements
- Passive solar heating from the conservatory
- Chimney balloons have been inserted into unused fireplaces to reduce air drafts
- Windows, shutters, doors, and floors have been draft proofed to stop hot air escaping the building
- Radiator reflector panels have been installed to direct heat away from the walls and back into the room
Reducing carbon footprint
We use local suppliers where possible. Guests are made aware of the various transport modes prior to their event and if they are travelling by car they are encouraged to car-share.
Water conservation
The gardens use rainwater and a seep hose system to minimize water waste. To help us cut down on the water and energy used for laundry, we encourage guests to consider reusing the provided towels if they are staying with us for more than one night. The showers have ShowerSave water regulators fitted. We record water (& energy) usage weekly and check for unusual usage.
Using organic products
We produce our own organically managed foods and use them wherever possible in the delicious home-cooked, seasonal meals.
Supporting local producers
We aim to use local suppliers wherever possible.
Using cruelty-free products
We only use free range chicken and eggs, and all of our fish carry the MSC eco label.
Supporting fair trade
We offer bespoke wedding menus and we can provide a menu which is 100% fair-trade if required.
Supporting / working with a charity
All surplus generated from events, such as weddings, are reinvested into the important charitable work carried out at the hall as well as the development of our environmentally friendly facilities and policies.
Supporting / working with a community / social project
Trafford Hall is home to the NCRC, a registered charity offering training and support to those living and working in low income communities across the UK to develop their skills, confidence and capacity to tackle problems and reverse poor conditions.
Vegetarian / vegan
We cater for all dietary needs, including vegetarian/vegan.
