A few ways we're trying to make a difference

We are determined to promote sustainable practices by using environmentally responsible, recycled precious metals in all of our jewellery. Our precious metals come from secondary sources and are re-refined in order to ensure that they are identical quality to newly mined metals. We strive to reduce the need for additional “dirty” mining by using renewed metals. In addition, our place of work operates as a green office.

Renewable energy use

Uses renewable energy

Our metal refining process uses renewable energy and produces recycled metals.

Water conservation

Water conservation

Large quantities of water are used in the diamond extraction and sorting process. Brilliant Earth only works with mining operations in Canada that recycle water, and use special systems that reduce the quantity of silt and contaminants released back in to the surrounding waters. Unlike many other mining operations, diamond mining does not use any toxic chemicals to leach the valuable minerals from the base rock.

Using organic products

Organic products

We use organic cloths wherever possible for our clothing line, packaging and showroom décor.

Supporting local producers

Local products

We spotlight many local artists.

Using cruelty-free products

Cruelty free

Brilliant Earth is extremely passionate about using cruelty-free products in all of our endeavours. From our conflict free diamond and fair trade sapphires to our recycled metals, we do our best to ensure that we are operating on a cruelty-free basis.

Supporting fair trade

Fair trade products

We are very excited to be using the world’s first fair trade gold from Oro Verde.

Support a community or social project

Brilliant Earth has teamed up with the Institute of Gemology of Madagascar (IGM) to fund two full scholarships for disabled students to learn the art of gemstone cutting, also known as lapidary. A highly prized skill, lapidary transforms rough stones into valuable polished gems. The scholarships will fund the training, equipment, and supplies needed for recipients to set up their own workshops and launch their new professional lives.
