What we do

April is a British designer and maker of contemporary jewellery and one of the first leading jewellers to be Fairtrade certified.

She aims to provide a fantastic personal service tailored to her customer’s individual needs. Visit her studio or discuss your ideas over the phone or by email and together we can make that unique ring to symbolise your unique and special relationship.

April's range of Fairtrade and Fairmined Ecological gold rings are made with 18ct white/yellow gold from the Oro Verde mine and her certified diamonds are sourced from Canada and the Lighobong women's diamond mining cooperative, so she can be sure of the transparent supply chain. She is also a licensee holder of Jeweltree Foundation. The Jeweltree Foundation aims to support the livelihoods of the artisanal miner and promotes transparency throughout the supply chain.

Choose from our range of rings on the website, visit the studio or let us create your bespoke, individual piece.

Ethical action

April’s vision for her company is complete transparency. This transparency extends from her sourcing of precious metals suppliers and gem stones to the design process with clients.

April is committed to using suppliers that practise social and environmentally responsible business.

This means:

  • Transparency & traceability in the supply chain
  • Progressive environmental responsibility – management of toxic substances
  • Greater access to mineral wealth for miners
  • The minimum price limits exploitation by disreputable traders and companies
  • Improved gender equality for women
  • Elimination of child labour
  • Standards for labour conditions
  • Health and safety improvements
  • Premium payments direct to communities for their development priorities

It is very important that effective social and environmental practices are put in place, and that these accord with fair trade principles. Such practices empower marginalised people around the world and keep environmental issues centre stage.
